Fab Friday–new chances and cool women.
One week from today I will be at New York Fashion Week sitting in the audience of the Project Runway show.
It’s been a crazy last two months since I returned from France with my son.
I moved into a new work chapter of life, transitioning from Style Editor at San Diego Magazine (with regular job duties and pay) to embarking on the tenuous role as a freelancer contributor.
Thankfully, I was given some new opportunities at several local outlets, and I’m happy to say things are working out OK for me.
This past week I reconnected with two incredible women.
Felena Hanson, formally of Ladies Who Launch, has started a new venture called Hera Hub. Hera Hub is a collaboration space for accomplished, like-minded entrepreneurial women. This unique workspace offers hourly, daily, and monthly work and meeting space for freelancers, independent consultants, entrepreneurs, and authors. Hera Hub, much like an incubator or think-tank, gives women the resources, community, and visibility to take their business to the next level.
I stopped by for a tour, and within 15 minutes made some unbelievable contacts having to do with fashion and the internet.
As excited as I am to return to NY for Fashion Week, I’m insecure as always about what to wear while I’m there. So….I paid a visit my friend Lupe Ahearn at Pretty Is. I wrote about her ingenius business a few months ago. It’s a place for women to go and borrow clothes for special events, interviews, or just for fun. Women have the full styling assistance of Ahearn and a full wearhouse of clothing to choose from. All you have to do is return the piece cleaned and ready for the next lucky lady. Fees are based on individual pieces and memberships are available.
Pretty Is hooked me up for my trip!
Although I still have no idea what I’ll be wearing in NY, stay tuned, because I’ll be updating this site daily with pics of my outfits.
The look I’m going for? Halle Berry meets Nina Garcia meets Christy Turlington…All me and none of me.
